Clayton Foster earns Bronze at the Pan-Am Championship

On the Podium: 86 kg/187 lbs. Gold – Reineris Salas (Cuba) Silver – Jose Diaz (Venezuela) Bronze – Clayton Foster (USA) Bronze – Edinson Ambrocio (Peru)

For those of you who don't know who he is, Clayton Foster is a freestyle wrestler who is living in Laramie and training at the Wyoming Regional Training Center. Prior to becoming a resident wrestler at the WRTC Clayton wrestled at Oklahoma State from 2007-11. He was a two-time All-America and an NCAA finalist at 197 pounds in 2011. Clayton also won the 96 kg bronze medal at the 2008 FILA Junior World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, and he was a Fargo junior freestyle national champion in 2006. 

Since moving to Wyoming, Clayton has added several more awesome accomplishments to his resume. The most recent being a bronze medal finish at 86 kg during the 2014 Pan Am Championships in Mexico City. 

En route to his podium finish Clayton won by Fall in the qualification round against Jose Mercado of Ecuador. In his second match Clayton lined up against Ricardo Baez of Argentina, he won by a 10-0 tech fall. In the semi final Foster suffered his only loss of the tournament, losing an 8-6 decision to the eventual silver medalist Jose Diaz of Venezuela. In his final match of the tournament Clayton earned a 10-0 Tech Fall over Adrian Jaoude of Brazil for the bronze medal.

Clayton's bronze medal also earned the USA 8 team points helping them secure the team Championship.
