Tonight was a great night for the Cowboys, as they won their sixth dual in row over the Utah Valley University Wolverines.

The wrestling action started off at 141 lbs. as Cole Mendenhall set the tone for the night earning a solid 9-4 decision over UVU’s Matthew Ontiveros.  Jake Elliot and Archie Colgan followed up with a pair of decision victories, each scoring seven points to down their opponents.

At 165 pounds Dakota Friesth went to work and earned the pokes their first bonus point of the evening, beating Utah Valley’s Dalton Harmon 16 - 6. Andy McCulley was the next Cowboy to take to the mat as he squared off against Ethan Smith winning the bout 5-2. Benjamin Stroh and Shane Woods followed McCulley up with another pair of decision wins, beating Ross Taylor and Derek Thomas.

In the 285 pound match up, UW’s Tanner Harms earned an impressive 4-3 victory over the Wolverines  20th ranked Adam Fager. In the next bout Tyler Cox had another high scoring, exciting match tonight as he took to the mat against UVU’s 16th ranked Chasen Tolbert.

Next up Tyler Cox took to the mat and earned a bonus point for the team by securing a 14 - 4 major decision over UVU’s 16th ranked Chasen Tolbert.

In the Final match of the evening Drew Templeman faced off against Utah Valley’s Jade Rauser. One minute into the first period Drew scored two off an amazing takedown. At the end of the first period Drew led the match 2-1. Rauser chose down to start the second period, and promptly got to his feet and tied the match up at 2-2. With just seconds left in the period Templeman got taken down, but managed to score the escape at the buzzer ending the period down by one point. Drew takes the bottom position to start the third and scores the escape to tie the score back up. Rauser took a shot with 16 seconds left, scoring the final takedown to earn the victory and prevent the pokes  from earning yet another shutout this season. Final score Cowboys 29 – Wolverines 3
