Governor’s Awards

Our bantam Governor's Award goes to a young man who wrestles for the Camel Kids Wrestling Club.  He was a 3 style winner at the 2016 WAWA State Championships, he placed 2nd at the USA Tour of America King of the Mountain Tournament, 5th at Big Horn Nationals, and 2nd at Monster Match.  Finally, he was the 2016 USAW/Kids/Vets Folkstyle National Champion.  Congratulations Gracin Peak.

The Intermediate award goes Broc Fletcher of Top of the Rock Wrestling Club.  He is a 7x Wyoming State Champion, 3X Intermountain Warrior Champion, 3X Wild West Champion, 2X Rocky Mountain National Champion, 2X Beehive Brawl Champion and 2X Salt Lake Slam Champion.

Our 2016 Novice division winner of the Governor’s Award is a young man that wrestles for the Natrona Colts.  He had a season record of 69-3 in 2016.  He was a 2016 3 style State Champion, including his 6th straight WAWA State folkstyle title.  He earned a championship at RMN Wild West Championship, he finished 1st at Black Hills Nationals, and 1st at USA Asics Postseason Nationals in Las Vegas. Congratulations Kaeden Wilcox.

The Schoolboy award goes to a young man who wrestles out of Gillette for Peak Wrestling Club, and is a Freshman at Campbell County High School.  His wrestling accomplishments for the 2016 season include 1st at RMN Wild West Championships, 1st and All American at Black Hills Folkstyle Nationals, He went undefeated on the Wyoming National Middle School Dual Team in Des Moines, IA earning All American honors.  He was a 3 style state champion at the WAWA Kids State Championships, and went on to place 3rd at Kids Nationals earning All American status for the 3rd time. Congratulations Warren Carr.

Our 2016 Cadet Governor's Award winner is Donny Proffit out of Kemmerer.  This young man is a two time High School State Champion and placed 3rd at the Ron Thon in Riverton. Last June he was the Kids West Regional Folkstyle Champion. He has been captain of his high school wrestling team the last 2 years

The winner of the Folkstyle Governor’s Award in the Junior Division is Carless Looney.  He placed 1st at the 2016 Ron Thon in Riverton, and followed up by winning his 1st 2X WHSAA State Championship.  He traveled to Virginia beach where he went 4-2 in a bracket of 73 at the National High School Coaches Association’s National Tournament. 

The winner of the Women's division Govorner's Award is young lady who started wrestling in 3rd grade and hasn’t stopped since.  She may not have won all her matches, but she listens to her coaches and works hard to overcome obstacles.  Since then, she has gone on and won many titles.  Her 1st big win was the Ironman Tournament, where she won all 3 styles against some tough competition.  She went on to be a 3 style winner at the 2016 WAWA Kids/Cadets/Girls State Championships.  All in all she has 9 female state titles and 3 kids division state titles in Wyoming.  She continued wrestling in high school for Moorcroft earning a varsity spot. In 2016 she traveled to Oklahoma for Women’s Nationals where she took 3rd, then she went on to Texas to Women’s body bar Nationals where she placed 2nd.  She is a 3 time All American, with a bright future wrestling at the senior level.
